Chinese New Year Special Cookies Recipe: Chui Kao So

Chinese New Year is a special moment that is identical with gathering with family and enjoying various delicious dishes. Ingredients:

  • 250 gr low protein wheat flour
  • 100 grams of powdered sugar
  • 100 gr butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp white sesame seeds (for sprinkling)
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)

How to make:

  1. Prepare the Cosmos CM-1679 Mixer and put the butter and powdered sugar in the bowl.
  2. Beat on medium speed until the mixture is soft and well blended.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then beat again until well blended.
  4. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt little by little while stirring using a mixer on low speed.
  5. Add vegetable oil and stir until the dough is smooth and can be spun.
  6. Take a little dough, round it, then press it a little until it is flat.
  7. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  8. Brush the surface of the cake with egg yolk.
  9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top to make it more fragrant and crispy.
  10. Preheat the Cosmos Air Fryer Oven CAFO-8823 at 160°C for 5 minutes.
  11. Arrange the cookies on the oven rack with enough space between them so they don't stick together.
  12. Bake at 160°C for 12-15 minutes or until the cake is golden brown.
  13. Once cooked, remove and let cool before storing in a jar.
