History

  • PT. Star Cosmos was founded on September 17, 1976 by Mr. Alam Surjaputra , the first Cosmos factory was built in the Tangerang area. The choice of the Cosmos Brand name comes from the word "cosmos" which means a system in the universe that is orderly or harmonious. Departing from this idea, the Cosmos Brand was created which means harmony.

    Starting from the concern of many electronic products from Japan with very competitive prices, Mr. Alam Surjaputra, who is an engineer in the field of Electrical Engineering, took a market breakthrough by producing Rice Storage Facilities (SPB) and became one of the first pioneers of local manufacturers for home appliance products in Indonesia.

    Cosmos also produced fans and rice cookers in parallel, which are the basic needs of household electronics. In the 1980s, Cosmos expanded its second and third factories. Cosmos also manufactured radio cassettes, televisions, washing machines, and refrigerators.

  • In 1991, Cosmos conducted Technical Collaboration with Goldstar (now LG) to commit to making Cosmos products with international standards and improving the quality and work system of the company to be able to compete with other international class products. This commitment has been proven until now, Cosmos is one of the market leaders in the household appliances industry in the Indonesian market.

    In 1996, Cosmos successfully obtained the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certification for Rice Storage Facilities (SPB) products with the FIFO (First In First Out) System. From this SNI, all rice storage facilities circulating in Indonesia are required to refer to the standards that Cosmos has set.

  • In 2004, Cosmos pioneered Tongolan innovation in Rice Cooker to make rice more sticky. In the same year, Cosmos also produced Ketupat Cooker. In 2005, Cosmos pioneered fans in Indonesia that were certified by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

  • Cosmos continues to innovate by presenting quality household electronic products that make household work easier, such as the Cosmos HARMOND Rice Cooker which is SCRATCH-PROOF, non-peeling, & healthier ; the Cosmos BLENZ Blender which can blend itself and can STOP ITSELF ; also the Cosmos ONY Series Fan which is equipped with an Electric Mosquito Repellent.

    Time goes by, Cosmos never stops presenting innovative products, because Cosmos believes that customer satisfaction is one of the main keys to Cosmos' existence for decades until now. It is a pride for Cosmos, a local brand that can compete with various global brands that enter the Indonesian market.
